Annual Benefit & Gala
The Boston Arts Academy Annual Benefit was established eight years ago with the mission to acquire the resources necessary to provide Arts Academy students with an exceptional education in arts and academics. Funds raised by the Benefit support the school’s arts programs, teachers and productions.
On May 3rd at the Boston Public Library, over 300 friends enjoyed a festive evening in support of Boston Arts Academy and the unique arts and academic curriculum that sends over 95% of its graduates on to college. A much-anticipated feature of the event was the presentation of the school’s annual Apollo Award to Marian L. Heard for her life-time of work in support of children, families and education.
We are indebted to our dynamic chairs for the evening, Richard Grubman and Caroline Mortimer, along with honorary chairs, Peter and Anne Brooke. Through their efforts and the generosity of individual and corporate donors, Boston Arts Academy was able raise funds towards bridging the gap between what the school district can provide, and the true cost of a full college prep and demanding arts curriculum. Yet this modest additional investment is delivering huge returns.
We are thrilled to announce that Sandra and Philip Gordon, long-time champions of public education and the arts, will be serving as Chairs for our 2006 Benefit and Gala! It will take place at the beautiful Boston Public Library on Tuesday, May 2, 2006. Swanee Hunt, former ambasssador to Austria and Director of the Women and Public Policy Program at Harvard University, along with her husband, Dr, Charles Ansbacher, Conductor of the Landmarks Orchestra, will be honored with the school’s 4th annual Apollo Award.
