Boston Arts Academy’s 3rd Annual Summer Institute for Arts in Education

July 5-8, 2006

The Boston Arts Academy, a Coalition of Essential Schools Mentor School and a Massachusetts Department of Education Compass School, will hold its 3rd Annual Summer Institute for Arts in Education on July 5th through the 8th at the school’s campus in Boston’s Fenway area. The four-day program will provide educators with a unique opportunity to learn about this award-winning school and to interact in an intimate setting with the school’s faculty and staff. It also will provide participants with a window on how BAA has developed its programs and practices since its founding in 1998. In addition, the Institute allows educators from schools of all kinds to learn how to use the arts to enhance curricula and boost student achievement.

When and where will the Institute take place?

The Summer Institute will take place July 5 - July 8, 2006 on the BAA campus, in the heart of Boston’s arts community, and near many Boston cultural landmarks, including the Museum of Fine Arts, the Institute for Contemporary Art, and Fenway Park.

How do I register for the 3rd Annual Boston Arts Academy Summer Institute?

Summer Institute Registration will open on Wednesday, March 15, 2006. You will receive a registration form via email on this date. Space is limited! Registration is on first come first served basis. Your completed registration form will reserve your spot for 2 weeks. Your registration is not guaranteed until BAA has received your full registration fees.

Early Registration (March 15 - April 30)

Where do participants stay during the week?

The registration fee does not include hotel accommodations. A block of hotel rooms has been secured at a local hotel at a discounted rate of $175 per night. Information regarding reserving your room will be sent to you via email after you are registered for the Summer Institute.

Do I need to rent a car?

You do not need to rent a car. Parking in the city is limited and expensive and there is no parking at BAA. The hotel is located in Boston’s Back Bay and is within walking distance of Boston Arts Academy, as well as many shops, restaurants and cultural institutions. In addition, the hotel and school are both conveniently located close to subway and bus lines.

How can I get college credit for my participation?

Participants will have the opportunity to earn 2-3 credits from Chapman University College for full participation in the Institute. The cost to enroll in the credit option is $100 for 2 credits and $150 for 3 credits. Chapman Registration forms and checks will be collected during the week of the Institute and BAA staff will mail all forms and checks to Chapman.
